Today I’ll share three reasons your kitchen isn’t cozy and how you can fix it. Kitchens should be the heart of the home, but they can often feel too cold or uninviting, which makes them unpleasant to be in. Here are three reasons why yours may feel too cold and simple things you can do to make your kitchen feel instantly cozier, without a renovation!
1. You use only overhead lighting.
The overhead lights might be helpful while cooking, but a kitchen lamp will create a much softer, cozier more inviting glow. Don’t have enough room for a lamp? Use a tea light, a flameless candle or hang a sconce on the wall.

2. You don’t have a rug.
A small rug or runner will add softness and can introduce a cozier color palette.
3. You don’t use warm accessories.
A kitchen doesn’t have to be a cold or stark utilitarian space. Warm yours up with cozier accessories that add the warmth of personality and texture in the room. Think artwork (my favorite coastal art here), baskets, cookbooks (my favorite pretty ones here), vases, cafe curtains (I have one on my window, and this one on my island stool nook) wood boards, utensil crocks etc.
