Fatai Owoseni, the Special Adviser to the Governor of Oyo State on Security Matters, claimed that many of the individuals from the Yoruba Nation movement detained by the state government are tradespeople like carpenters and bricklayers who have been persuaded to challenge the current establishment.

He mentioned that during their questioning, they found out that these people had been assured of improved job opportunities under the Yoruba Nation’s administration. He emphasized that the movement shows signs of organization and support from certain sponsors working together.

He said in an interview with Channels TV, ”From the little interrogation that we have had with them, we have heard some of them saying that there is a proclamation that Yoruba Nation has independence and that our people are not getting jobs from this government.

And that once they take overpower, they will give their people jobs. Some of the Yoruba Nation agitators are Carpenters and bricklayers who have been brainwashed to rundown the system. And in such a kind of movement, there is a little bit of organization. They must have been pulling themselves together and recognizing the fact that there is a proliferation of different armed groups in the country. Some are even under the guise that they are doing private security guards.”

Security personnel apprehended twenty individuals suspected to be Yoruba Nation Agitators for their purported involvement in the incursion of the Oyo State government secretariat in Ibadan. The group reportedly seized control of certain sections of the premises during the morning invasion.

The individuals dressed in military camouflage arrived in a silver Nissan Urban Caravan bus without registration, carrying weapons like machetes, pump-action rifles, cartridges, various talismans, and a flag representing the Oduduwa Nation movement.
