The Chief Magistrate Court in Ikorodu has granted an order for substituted service of notice for a DNA test application to Wunmi, the wife of the late singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, known as Mohbad.
According to a statement released by Monisola Odumosu of the Aloba family’s legal team, the application sought to serve Wunmi by posting legal documents at her last known address. This was due to the sheriff’s inability to serve her in person on two previous attempts.
The statement explained that the legal team, led by Emmanuel Oroko, argued that such service would constitute proper notice of the pending suit. The Chief Magistrate granted the order and instructed that the court documents be posted at Wunmi’s last known address.
The Aloba family is contesting the paternity of Wunmi’s baby, Liam, and had previously filed an application for a DNA test. In a viral video, Wunmi expressed her willingness to take the test but claimed that she had not been available for service of the court motion.
However, Odumosu stated that the matter has been adjourned until next month for a report on the service of notice.
Wunmi’s lawyer, Taiwo Olawanle, denied knowledge of the court order when contacted. He stated that if they receive the order, they will advise her to comply but that they are currently unaware of it.
Mohbad passed away at the age of 27 on September 12, 2023, under controversial circumstances. A 13-member special investigation team has been formed to probe his death, and Naira Marley and Sam Larry were among those arrested in connection with the case. Mohbad’s body was exhumed for an autopsy on September 21, 2023, and remains unburied. CONTINUE READING
