Former Kano State Governor and All Progressives Congress (APC) National Chairman Senator Abdullahi Ganduje has reaffirmed his position as party leader following a court ruling that reversed his purported suspension.

Justice A. M. Liman of the Federal High Court in Kano set aside the decision of an APC executive meeting held on April 15, 2024, and restrained the respondents from implementing any actions taken at that meeting. The court also instructed the parties to maintain the status quo until the hearing of Ganduje’s application for the enforcement of his fundamental rights.

Ganduje, who initiated the legal action, expressed gratitude to party executives and ward officials for their support. He accused the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), led by Governor Abba Yusuf, of orchestrating the plot to remove him from his position.

“The NNPP is deeply concerned about our party’s strength in Kano and our ability to deliver votes for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027,” Ganduje stated. “They are attempting to sow confusion and weaken us.”

The APC has responded by alleging that the suspension plot was initiated by NNPP members and has filed a complaint with the National Judicial Council (NJC) against the judge who issued the ruling.

Ganduje has pledged to maintain the integrity of the APC in Kano and ensure that the party remains strong ahead of the upcoming elections. He has written to the Inspector General of Police and the Director-General of the Department of State Services to investigate the individuals involved in the suspension attempt.

The case has been scheduled for a hearing on April 30. CONTINUE READING
