Former Imo State Governor Emeka Ihedioha has announced his resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in a letter dated April 23, 2024.
In the letter addressed to the PDP Chairman in Mbutu Ward, Ihedioha expressed his disappointment with the party’s recent direction.
“Since 1998, as a founding member, I have dedicated myself to the PDP’s development and transformation,” Ihedioha wrote. “However, the party has strayed from the principles I hold dear.”
Ihedioha cited the PDP’s inability to reform internally, enforce its rules, and provide credible opposition to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
“Despite my efforts to offer guidance, the party is no longer capable of addressing its internal challenges or holding the government accountable,” he said.
Ihedioha emphasized that his decision was difficult but necessary. “While I resign from the party, I remain committed to democracy and good governance in Nigeria,” he stated. CONTINUE READING
