Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State has expressed his gratitude to former Lagos State Governor Bola Tinubu for creating an environment that facilitated the peaceful conduct of the All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial primary election.
Aiyedatiwa made this known in his acceptance speech after emerging victorious as the party’s candidate for the November 16 governorship election.
The primary election committee chairman, Governor Usman Ododo, declared Aiyedatiwa the winner, having secured 48,569 votes, significantly more than his closest rival, Mayowa Akinfolarin, who received 15,343 votes out of the 95,178 valid votes cast.
Aiyedatiwa also extended his appreciation to the APC’s national and state working committees for their efforts in ensuring the selection of the “best candidate” as the party’s flagbearer.
He commended the other contestants for their sportsmanship and urged them to unite with him towards securing the party’s victory in the November election.
“Democracy sometimes comes with discordant tunes. This is not the time to hold grudges against one another, but for all of us to come together so as to remain in power,” Aiyedatiwa stated. CONTINUE READING
