Nollywood actress Stella Udeze has shed light on why many actresses struggle in their relationships. She attributes this challenge to the prevailing perception of women within the Nollywood community.
Udeze disclosed that actresses often face the stigma of being labeled as prostitutes by a significant portion of society.
“Some actresses find it difficult to maintain fulfilling relationships due to trust issues. In Nigeria, a majority of men perceive actresses as being involved in prostitution,” she elaborated.
“They need to discern between the genuine and the misconceived. Despite our exposure to the public eye, we deserve to be seen beyond such stereotypes. Once people overcome these preconceptions, they’ll realize that we are capable of having healthy and meaningful relationships,” Udeze expressed during a conversation with Potpourri.
While acknowledging the existence of negative elements within the industry, the actress vehemently opposes the notion that prostitution and ‘runs girls’ have become pervasive in Nollywood.
“That is why I said earlier that people should learn to differentiate the good from the bad if truly prostitutes have invaded Nollywood. Many good women are wife material as many abound who are enjoying a happy marriage,” she says.
