The Nigerian Union of Pensioners (NUP), Kogi State chapter, has extended its heartfelt gratitude to Governor Usman Ahmed Ododo for the reinstatement of 100% pension payments to pensioners at the Local Government level. This restoration marks a significant departure from the previous practice of partial payments, which had persisted for several years.

“We express our heartfelt gratitude to Governor Ododo for implementing the long-overdue 100% pension payment. This act demonstrates his commitment to the well-being of pensioners, a fact we deeply appreciate.

We also commend Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Barr. Deedat Ozigi Salami, for his tireless efforts in ensuring our concerns were addressed.

Our union has tirelessly advocated for this payment, and we are overjoyed that it has finally come to fruition with the April pension payment.

This development fills us with immense joy and appreciation. The governor’s administration has proven to be truly “pensioners friendly,” putting an end to the challenges faced by pensioners in the past.

We also extend our thanks to Governor Ododo for appointing Comrade Onuh Edoka, a former Labor Chairman, as Special Adviser on Labor Matters. This appointment is a testament to the governor’s recognition of labor issues.

Governor Ododo has consistently demonstrated his dedication to the people and labor through his actions and policies. We firmly believe in his leadership and the progress he is making for Kogi State.

As a union, we pledge our continued support to the government and trust that the remaining concerns we have raised, including harmonization and gratuity of pensions for local government employees, will be addressed promptly.

We eagerly anticipate the administration’s resolution of these matters, ensuring the well-being of all pensioners in Kogi State.” CONTINUE READING
