Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma has appointed himself as the state’s Commissioner for Lands. The announcement was made during the inauguration of 24 newly appointed commissioners on Tuesday, April 30.

Governor Uzodimma explained that his self-appointment was motivated by a desire to prevent a recurrence of past controversies involving land administration. He cited the example of a former commissioner who allegedly engaged in questionable land deals towards the end of his tenure.
