In a significant move towards unity within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State, former lawmaker Senator Magnus Abe has publicly announced his reconciliation with Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.

Abe, who had engaged in a protracted feud with Wike over political differences, expressed his commitment to ending the rift. “I have made peace with the Honourable Minister of the FCT, and former governor of Rivers State,” Abe stated on Facebook.

Highlighting the importance of unity, Abe accompanied Wike to Chief Tony Okocha’s thanksgiving ceremony, demonstrating his “total commitment to end the rift in our party.” He praised Wike’s approach to resolving the conflict, noting his “direct, truthful, and sincere” style.

Abe expressed optimism that the “process of peaceful reunification and reintegration” would benefit the APC in Rivers State. “The disagreements within are over and done for good because the oxygen for conflict has been extinguished,” he declared.

Acknowledging the need for time, Abe emphasized the goal of a united front. “All those with us, who sincerely wish us well, will go with us and tow the path of unity because we all know that it is the right way to go.”

Abe thanked Okocha for hosting the thanksgiving ceremony and reaffirmed his allegiance to the APC. “My home is in the APC. Let us come together. Everyone will benefit from us working together,” he stated.

While acknowledging the need for further discussions, Abe urged the party faithful to prioritize the economy. “When it is time, we will speak. For now, make I dey my dey. Let us focus on the economy. God bless you all,” he said.

Abe’s reconciliation with Wike follows his return to the APC in January 2024 after briefly leaving for the Social Democratic Party (SDP) ahead of the 2023 gubernatorial election. CONTINUE READING
