CHELSEA could appoint Hansi Flick as manager if they sack Mauricio Pochettino, according to reports.

The Blues boss has eased pressure on himself with recent wins, including a 2-0 victory over former side Tottenham on Thursday.

But Chelsea chiefs could still decide to make a change and are considering potential replacements.

According to Caught Offside one of those is Flick, who was very successful as manager of Bayern Munich between 2019-21.

He is a manager Chelsea have admired for some time, and the club held talks with the German about taking over following the sacking of Frank Lampard in 2021.

Flick turned down the Blues following a conversation with former chief Marina Granovskaia, while Flick also discussed the Tottenham job before he took over as Germany boss.

The 59-year-old is reportedly keen on managing in the Premier League however and is eyeing a top six club, so could be interested if Chelsea come calling.

Todd Boehly and co. may be impressed by Flick’s track record after he led Bayern Munich to two Bundesliga titles.

He also won the Champions League in 2020 with the German giants, as well as the DFB-Pokal and Club World Cup in the same year.

A move to the German national team followed by Flick was unable to repeat his success as Germany were knocked out of the group stage at the 2022 World Cup.

Pochettino still has a year remaining on his contract and he believes he will still be in charge at Stamford Bridge next season.

He said after beating Spurs: “I suppose that because I have one more year on my contract that I am going to be here. But enough about the stupid rumours.

“You need to ask the club if they want me to keep going or not – not to write things that make no sense.

“I have one more year on my contract here and if nobody says anything, I suppose that I am going to be here. Only if we finish the season and someone says to me “ciao”. We don’t know at the moment.”
