In the wake of a military operation in Shiroro Local Government Area of Niger State, thousands of villagers have reportedly fled their homes.

Initially, Nigerian Army personnel were deployed to combat terrorism in the region, and sources indicated that they raised a white flag, symbolizing peace. However, around 3 am on Wednesday, the army abruptly withdrew its troops and equipment from the area after suffering casualties among its officers.

Some of the villagers who did not want to be named said they are fleeing to neighboring towns over possible reprisal attacks by the marauding terrorists.

Another farmer Mallam Gidado Said this is not The first time soldiers will go and they will come back and force us to pay them for security, but we don’t have more money to pay.

Recalled that last Friday, Boko-Haram terrorists attacked and killed five soldiers including a captain in Roro, Karaga and Rumace villagers in Allawa and on Wednesday’s military casualties added to the list of six officers of the Nigerian Army that have lost their lives within one week to the terrorist
