The incident, which happened shortly before 6 am on Saturday, drew attention from authorities including the Federal Road Safety Corps and the Police.

At the scene, officials restricted information dissemination, insisting that only their designated Public Relations Officers were authorized to provide statements. However, eyewitnesses reported that numerous passengers aboard the BRT bus sustained injuries in the accident.

According to onlookers, the BRT bus was stationary, loading passengers at the designated stop when a truck transporting cows bound for Lagos collided with it. The impact not only diverted the bus off the road but also caused damage to nearby shops and kiosks.
