They are languishing in eighth place in the table heading into the final day and are facing the prospect of their worst ever Premier League finish.

Ten Hag does still have an FA Cup final against Manchester City on May 25 as he looks to double his trophy haul at the club – after winning the Carabao Cup last summer.

But according to The Mirror, both Bayern and Ajax believe new Man Utd co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe will still axe Ten Hag even if they lift the FA Cup.

As a result, they are lining up moves for his services in the summer.

Bayern are searching for Thomas Tuchel’s successor after it was confirmed he is leaving the club.

And Ten Hag has previously worked for the German giants as he was manager of their reserve side during Pep Guardiola’s time at the helm.

Meanwhile, Ajax want Ten Hag to return after just two years away.

He led them to three Eredivisie titles in four seasons and a Champions League semi-final.
