Mauricio Pochettino is reportedly a contender to replace Erik ten Hag at Manchester United following his departure from Chelsea.
According to talkSPORT, Pochettino is keen on taking the over at Old Trafford, a position he missed out on two years ago when Ten Hag was appointed.
The Argentine, who has also attracted interest from Bayern Munich, left Chelsea by mutual consent after less than a year in charge.
His stint at Stamford Bridge saw mixed results, resulting in a sixth-place finish in the 2023/24 season and securing a spot in the Conference League.
However, this position could be upgraded to the Europa League depending on the outcome of Manchester United’s FA Cup final against Manchester City.
Despite Chelsea’s rocky season, which included 11 Premier League defeats and losses in both the FA Cup semi-finals and the Carabao Cup final, Pochettino’s late-season rally—winning the last five league matches—left a positive impression.
Manchester United, meanwhile, endured a dismal season under Ten Hag, finishing eighth in the Premier League, their worst ever finish with a goal difference of -1.
Their Champions League campaign ended in the group stage, and their Carabao Cup defense was cut short by a 3-0 defeat to Newcastle.
It is said that even a win over Manchester City in the FA Cup final may not secure Ten Hag’s position.
This leaves the door open for Pochettino, who has a good knowledge of the Premier League, given his time at Tottenham and Southampton.
