With the best of seven leg match poised at 3-2 in Gilliland’s favour on his serve, Adams needed a big set of opening throws to tie up the score.

Wolfie proceeded to land a 20 and then a treble 20.

However, the 68-year-old’s third throw at the oche certainly did not go to plan.

Adams’ final dart slipped as he went to let fly and arced up and down before hitting the floor near the board.

He could not believe it and threw up a frustrated look as he went to collect his darts.

MODUS commentators where left equally in shock, with one saying: “Whoops.”

The co-commentator then added: “He’s thrown it, he’s thrown the dart. Wow.”

The first commentator then quipped: “That was the wrong-un.”
