CYCLIST Steven Kruijswijk was rushed to hospital after a huge crash at the Criterium du Dauphine.

A nasty collision in the pouring rain forced Team Visma-Lease a Bike riders Kruijswijk and Dylan van Baarle to abandon the race.

Dutchman Kruijswijk, 36, could be seen being loaded into an ambulance as he was taken to hospital.

Compatriot and team-mate Van Baarle, 32, was sat by the side of the road with his arm in a sling.

A number of other high-profile riders went down in the crash including race leader Remco Evenepoel.

Organisers have since confirmed they have neutralised proceedings “due to no more ambulances remaining to support the race”.
