World renowned French designer Ronan Bouroullec is stunning us yet again with another incredible collection that showcases his distinct creative eye. Created for Italian ceramics company Mutina, Bouroullec unveiled six new designs for the brand’s limitedly produced and handmade Editions series. The collection of five vases and a candelabra highlights the beauty of handmade-in-Italy ceramics with its subtle imperfections, as well as the superiority of an ancient glaze formulation that gives each piece its unique colors and tones. The objects are signed and stamped sequentially, reiterating its exclusivity.

Talea is inspired by nature and translates to “cutting” in Italian, referring to a piece of a plant that is cut off and used to propagate a new plant. The six balls on the sides of the vase are reminiscent of buds that grow as the plant regenerates itself. “It is an ode to life and care in the form of design,” Bouroullec shares.

Finestra Giorno and Finestra Notte are similar vases with differing panels which Bouroullec says is “a gateway to an imagined world.” Giorno, which means day, features a grid structure in a window-like container while Notte, or night, has circular volumes applied to its box.

Camino and Camini have a ceramic framework that supports a cylindrical vase made from anodized aluminum. If the design feels familiar, that’s because it is. “Camino feels like home. A familiar structure, open to welcoming life and hosting it as it grows,” recalls the designer. Camino houses a single vase while Camini holds two.

Last but not least, Bouroullec dreamed up three candelabras called Candeliere, where he “envisioned a module that could cross a table, defining textures and balances, creating relationships through life.” The modular system, which is made of cylinders that connect to a parallelepiped, allows users to create various combinations.
