- You can tweak the spice level – If you make this recipe as written, I consider it “mild.” It’s full of flavor and has some heat, but it isn’t too spicy (my children always let me know if they think something is too spicy). If I am making a dish only for myself, I will use this seasoning and add more red chili flakes and more chili powder to bring up the spice a bit.
Shelf Life
A batch of homemade seasoning can last in your pantry for one to two years. For peak freshness, use within six months. This is likely obvious, but using fresher spices will result in a longer shelf life. So if this is a concern to you, don’t use spices that have been sitting in your drawer for years.
