Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars have joined forces for the new single “Die With a Smile.” They’ve also shared a vintage-style video directed by Daniel Ramos and Mars himself. In it, Mars and Gaga perform in country getup in a room made up like a hybrid 1950s recording studio and TV show set. Check it out below.
In a press release, Gaga noted that her own album is almost finished. She said of the collaboration:
Bruno and I have a lot of mutual respect for each other and were talking about collaborating. I was finishing up my own album in Malibu and one night after a long day he asked me to come to his studio to hear something he was working on. It was around midnight when I got there and I was blown away when I heard what he had started making. We stayed up all night and finished writing and recording the song. Bruno’s talent is beyond explanation. His musicianship and vision is next level. There’s no one like him.
Mars added, “Getting to work with Gaga has been an honor. She’s an icon and she makes this song magical. I’m so excited for everyone to hear it.”
Gaga teased the track via social media yesterday (August 15), sharing a photo of herself and Mars decked out in blue and red. “WHILE YOU WAIT TILL LG7…,” she wrote. They went on to premiere it at the opening of Intuit Dome in Inglewood.
Lady Gaga’s last single was “Hold My Hand,” the theme song for the 2022 action flick Top Gun: Maverick. She’s since performed at the 2023 Academy Awards and the 2024 Olympics opening ceremony, and relaunched her wildly popular Las Vegas Residency. Her sixth studio full-length, Chromatica, arrived in 2020.
On October 4, Gaga will appear as Harley Quinn in Todd Phillips’ Joker sequel, Joker: Folie à Deux, alongside Joaquin Phoenix in the title role.
