Inspired by the cosmos and the study of light, Natalia Enze, Head of Design of the Milan-based rug brand Atelier Tapis Rouge, created the mesmerizing Elettrico Collection. The series, featuring 14 unique rugs, showcases complex expressions of movement, color, and shapes. “The Elettrico collection fully expresses the creative potential of Atelier Tapis Rouge, where our stylistic signature and technical experimentation are recognized, allowing us to play with a range of rugs characterized by unusual fluid shapes, some with cut-out holes,” Enze explains. The collection was “a complex challenge that has allowed us to demonstrate all our design know-how: interior design masterpieces that combine tradition and innovation to transform simple materials into authentic works of art for living with an eco-responsible approach.”
Each rug captivates with its intricate details, color gradients, and the dynamic and energetic movement expressed through lines and shapes. Enze’s creative design process involved extensive research into the physical properties of light and its travel through space and time. Concepts such as electromagnetic radiation, wavelengths, and the natural light spectrum influenced the fluid shapes and neon colors in the collection.
The rugs are meticulously crafted by artisans using ancient Nepalese hand-knotting techniques with wool and Chinese silk yarns. To create dimension and depth, the rugs are hand-carved into varying heights, a skillful mastery that brings the design and details to life.
Atelier Tapis Rouge stands out as a prominent voice in the contemporary rug scene, transforming complex scientific concepts into tangible works of art. The Elettrico Collection is a perfect representation of the brand’s unmatched creative eye to create exceptional pieces to interior settings.
