The end product will be cute toilet paper roll bats.

Simple Bat Craft Supplies

• empty toilet paper tube rolls
• black construction paper
• glue (white school glue or glue stick, as you prefer)
• colorful paper scraps- (to be used for eyes)
• black marker (or black paint)
• hole punch (only needed if you want to hang the bats)
• fishing line or embroidery thread (only needed if you want to hang the bats)

These craft supplies are all simple to use so these are great bat craft for preschoolers and children of all ages. If you are using this bat craft for preschool aged children, be extra careful to practice craft safety.

How To Make Toliet Paper Roll Bat Craft

Use your toilet paper tube roll to measure out the size rectangle you will need of black construction paper to cover your tube. Then cut out that black paper rectangle (about 4 by 5.5 inches but may vary based on your tube) and glue it to your tube. This paper covered cardboard tube makes the body of the bat.

Next, you will make the bat wings. Use a pencil to free hand a wing (or print a bat template and trace the wing shapes) on a black piece of paper. Then folding the paper over or stack the paper and cut out two identical wings with and extra 1/2 inch at the base. This extra length will be for folding against the tube and glueing onto the body.

You can also cut out a square and shape it into a bat head with pointy bat ears from the extra scraps around the wings. Glue the bat wings and head to body.

Now, you can decorate your bat with eyes, nose, and mouth. We went for just eyes but this is where you get to personalize and give it your own look by using what ever combo of face parts, shapes, and colors you like. You can use the black marker to add pupils to the eyes.Then glue the eyes onto the section where the bat’s ears stick out of the toilet paper roll.

Now, your toilet paper tube bat is done. The paper bats can be placed on a mantle or side table near your treat bowl. 

How To Hang A Flying Bat Craft

To make it a flying bat, you just need to hole punch the part of the tube opposite the face and tie on some fishing line. Alternatively, you could hole punch a hole in the tip of the wing, if you prefer a sideways flapping bat craft.

With the flying string, the paper tube bats are great for decorating trees and your front porch or railing. These hanging bats flutter in the wind when placed outdoors for a little extra spooky fun!
