Warner Bros. Animation announced at the Annecy Animation Festival, that Cartoon Network is working on three new Adventure Time projects including a movie and two new spinoff series.

The Adventure Time movie is being developed by Steven Universe creator Rebecca Sugar, Over the Garden Wall co-creator Patrick McHale, and Adventure Time showrunner Adam Muto. All of these individuals have worked on the series.

There’s not any other information to share on the film project, but we do have some details on the spinoff shows.

The first series is titled Adventure Time: Side Quests, and it’s a kids’ series that will “take audiences back in time to when Finn was just a kid who dreamed of epic quests and monster fights with his best friend, Jake the Dog.”

It’s explained that Side Quests “will deliver stand-alone episodes starring early versions of fan-favorite characters, including the sometime-villain The Ice King.”

That show is being developed by longtime Adventure Time artist and two-time Emmy-winner Nate Cash.

The other spinoff is titled Adventure Time: Heyo BMO, “a preschool series starring the lovable video game console BMO. After settling into a new neighborhood, BMO and a group of new friends will face challenges that are more appropriate for younger viewers.”

This series is being developed by Two-time Emmy winner and Adventure Time writer Adam Muto and storyboard artist Ashlyn Anstee.

Adventure Time is a popular and fun property to play with and WB is obviously excited about expanding the franchise in several different ways.
