Supporters of Chief Olusola Oke, Wale Akinterinwa, and Hon. Jimi Odimayo took to the streets of Akure on Sunday evening, storming the state secretariat of the All Progressives Congress (APC) with placards to demand the cancellation of the party’s gubernatorial primary.

The protesters labeled the primary a “monumental disaster” and carried signs emblazoned with messages such as:

* “No election in Ondo.”
* “APC primary electoral officers failed to show up in all wards in Ondo State.”
* “We demand fairness and justice in APC primary election in Ondo.”
* “No mandate for Aiyedatiwa, We’re calling for fresh primary election.”
* “NWC of APC No Mandate for Aiyedatiwa.”
* “Saturday’s APC primary in Ondo was a sham.”
* “APC Must Not Collapse In Ondo State.”
* “Primary Election materials were not distributed in all wards across Eighteen LGAs in Ondo State.”

Adeniran Oyebade, Director General for Olusola Oke Campaign Organization in Ondo Central Senatorial District, spoke on behalf of the protesters. He accused the party of stealing their mandate and described the primary as “broad-day robbery.”

“APC delegated people to Ondo State to conduct the primary, but they never did,” Oyebade asserted. “They stayed in Akure and started writing results. They wrote the results of 203 wards across Ondo State, taking the mandate of the people into their own hands.”

Oyebade called for the immediate cancellation of the election, claiming it was illegitimate. “There is no need to say that the election was inconclusive,” he said.

The protesters demanded the suspension of Dr. Jimoh Ibrahim from the party for alleged election crimes and called for a fresh primary election to select a popular and uncontroversial candidate. CONTINUE READING
