A socio-cultural group, Arewa New Frontiers (ANF), has condemned former Jigawa State Governor Sule Lamido’s criticism of northern governors seeking foreign assistance to address security challenges in the region.

ANF’s National Coordinator, Abubakar Lawal, asserted that the governors deserve praise for their efforts, emphasizing that global collaboration is crucial in combating insecurity. He dismissed Lamido’s criticisms as “baseless and a waste of time.”

Lawal accused Lamido of neglecting his own legal troubles with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and interfering with the governors’ initiatives. He warned that ANF would request the EFCC to “dust” Lamido’s case file if he continued to criticize the governors.

ANF rejected Lamido’s claim that the governors’ actions violated the Constitution, arguing that insecurity is a global issue that requires a collaborative approach. They stressed the need for modernized strategies and equipment to address contemporary security threats.

Despite Lamido’s right to express his opinion, ANF maintained that his criticisms of the governors’ efforts were unwarranted and irrelevant to the challenges they face. They expressed optimism about the governors’ global engagements, emphasizing the value of sharing experiences and ideas in enhancing capacity and understanding in the fight against insecurity.
