Risq has amassed a huge following on social media, with over 140,000 followers on TikTok.
In a viral TikTok video, that has amassed over 5.6 million views and 600,000 likes, Tori revealed that she wears lingerie on outdoor boudoir shoots to put her clients at ease.
Thousands of viewers praised Toriโs โgeniusโ clothing choice on shoots โ commenting that they would have felt โso much comfortableโ and โconfidentโ if their boudoir photographer had worn lingerie too.
โNot a Lot of People Offer Thisโ
Tori, who is originally from California, was inspired to start her outdoor boudoir photography company Risq after seeing a gap in the market. Tori realized that there werenโt many boudoir photographers catering to people who wanted to do empowering and body-positive shoots outside in nature.
โAfter the COVID-19 pandemic, I realised I didnโt want to be part of the corporate world anymore and I only wanted to do things that bring me joy,โ Tori tells PetaPixel.
โI had been doing photography as a hobby for 15 years or so and after the pandemic, I started shooting in nature more.
โAround the same time, my friend asked to take some sexy boudoir photos for her boyfriend. I had never done boudoir before, but the shoot was so much fun!
โLater on, my husband and I realized that not a lot of people were offering outdoor boudoir photography. Like 99% of boudoir photographers shoot inside in a studio or a property.
โSo we started testing outdoor boudoir shoots out and we absolutely fell in love with the work!
โWe loved integrating nature and healing into boudoir photography and empowering people to love their body as it is.
โSo my husband and I went all in with the idea of outdoor boudoir photography and founded Risq.โ
โI Didnโt Always Wear Lingerie on Shootsโ
While Tori always wears lingerie on shoots now, this wasnโt always the case. The photographer tells PetaPixel that she used to wear normal clothes until an experience with a friend on a boudoir shoot.
โI didnโt always wear lingerie,โ Tori says.
โWhen I first started out, I did lots of test boudoir shoots with friends. There was one occasion when my longtime friend got so nervous before her shoot and couldnโt relax.
โI tried so many strategies until I eventually asked her โWhat do you need from me?โ
โAnd she just answered: โWell, Iโm the only one dressed like this.โ
โIt just clicked for me. I had already done some self-portraits in lingerie earlier that day so I changed back into that.
โWhen I returned to the shoot, my friendโs demeanor totally changed and she completely relaxed.
โIt totally changed the game for the photo shoot, so I started doing it more and more.โ
โLingerie is my Uniform Nowโ
For outdoor boudoir photo shoots, Tori says that wearing lingerie allows her to be in tune with her clients and their needs.
โObviously, a lot of boudoir photographers donโt wear lingerie too when theyโre doing a shoot, which totally makes sense! But that creates an imbalance there,โ Tori explains.
โI wear lingerie so that my clients are not the only ones who are half-naked but also so that weโre both on the same page. Weโre both being vulnerable,โ
โEspecially on outdoor shoots, it helps me stay in balance with our clients and their needs.
โFor example, if itโs snowing outside and theyโre in lingerie, then so am I. So I know if my clients need to take a break or warm up during the shoot.
โLingerie is my uniform now!โ
