At Lagos Airport on Saturday, XEJET Airlines experienced an aviation incident during landing. The aircraft veered off the runway and ended up in the grassy area.

This occurrence, just over two weeks since the grounding of Dana Air by the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authorities, has prompted action from the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, resulting in the closure of the 18/Left runway at Murtala Muhammed Airport, Lagos.

The Airbus, bearing registration 5N-BZZ and carrying 52 passengers, had departed from Abuja and arrived in Lagos at 11:29 am.

The Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau has confirmed the incident, stating that the XEJET Airlines aircraft skidded off the runway at the domestic wing of Murtala Muhammed Airport.

Further details on the incident are expected to be released shortly.
