The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) is expected to declare the winner of its Ondo State governorship primary election shortly, barring any unforeseen circumstances.
The primary, held over the weekend in 203 wards across the state, featured 16 aspirants. Prominent candidates included incumbent Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, Jimoh Ibrahim, Olusola Oke, Wale Akinterinwa, and Diran Iyantan.
Despite reported irregularities, the seven-member committee overseeing the primary has arrived at the collation center in Akure. Governor Ahmed Ododo of Kogi, the committee chairman, is currently overseeing the compilation of results from the 18 local government areas where the primary took place.
Party executives, security personnel, and journalists are gathered at the venue, eagerly awaiting the announcement of the winner. Ovie Omo-Agege, the committee’s secretary, is responsible for compiling the final results.
