The Oduduwa Development Congress (ODC) has issued a stern warning to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, to retract his baseless claims or face the consequences of resignation.

ODC vehemently disputes Wike’s assertion that he played a pivotal role in President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s election victory. The group insists that Wike’s claim is a figment of his imagination.

According to ODC President Oluwasanmi Sola, Nigerians, not Wike, elected Tinubu as their President in a clear reflection of the people’s will. Sola emphasized that Wike should express gratitude to Tinubu for rescuing him from political obscurity.

ODC’s statement reads:

“We set the record straight: Nyesom Wike did not make Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu the President of Nigeria. Wike’s claim is false and misleading.”

“Tinubu received the highest number of votes in the 2023 presidential election, meeting all constitutional requirements for victory. He also received over 25% of the votes in 30 states, exceeding the constitutional threshold. Local and international observers validated his victory.”

“Wike’s claim is an attempt to take credit for our collective mandate. In his victory speech, Tinubu recognized those who contributed to his success, but Wike’s name was conspicuously absent.”

ODC also criticized Wike’s handling of the FCT, accusing him of running it like a personal fiefdom. The group noted that Wike’s lopsided appointments have alienated Northerners and could damage the Tinubu administration’s support base.

“Wike’s arrogance and insubordination are alarming. He has turned the FCT into a playground for nepotism and cronyism,” the statement added.

ODC urged Wike to “retrace his steps and tread cautiously or be forced to resign.” The group warned that Wike’s actions are damaging the Tinubu administration and undermining the unity of the country. CONTINUE READING
