On Tuesday, the Nigeria Ethnic Nationality Youth Leaders Council Worldwide (NENYLCW) issued a statement urging the immediate removal of Mele Kyari as General Managing Director (CEO) of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited (NNPCL).
The youth leaders accused NNPCL under Kyari’s leadership of sabotaging efforts to establish indigenous refineries, benefiting a subsidy cartel. They cited recent revelations by Devakumar Edwin, Vice President of Oil and Gas at Dangote Industries Limited (DIL), who alleged that International Oil Companies (IOCs) were hindering the Dangote Refinery’s operations by inflating crude oil prices.

The youth leaders demanded that Kyari resign or face a national protest that would shut down the country. They urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to dismiss Kyari if he fails to step down voluntarily.
