In response to an incident involving an attack on Edo State Labour Party candidate Olumide Akpata, the University of Benin has indefinitely suspended its Student Union Government (SUG).

The suspension, effective from April 29, 2024, was confirmed in a statement issued by University Registrar Ademola Bobola on Monday.
