At the induction ceremony held recently, the Registrar and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the institute, Prof. Mohammed Aliyu, appealed to the government to give proper recognition and integration of professionals into public offices.
He urged the new inductees and the institute at large to shape the future of procurement and the supply chain management.
While delivering his keynote address, focusing on the significance of procurement and supply chain management in various sectors of Nigerian society, Aliyu emphasised the importance of effective implementation of government economic policies and procedures, commending the pivotal role procurement and supply chain management professionals play in shaping successful strategies across all levels of governance.
Aliyu underscored the necessity for directors-general of procurement agencies to be certified and qualified professionals from CIPSMN, who would be capable of understanding the intricacies and technicalities of the field.
He called for ethical responsibilities of procurement professionals, admonishing the new inductees to uphold the principles of the profession and leverage best practices to make a meaningful impact in their respective organisations and communities.
While stressing the importance of strategic planning, risk mitigation, and continuous improvement in the procurement process, Aliyu also highlighted the role of technology in reducing costs and administrative overheads, advocating for the adoption of automated procurement systems.
