Contour, the Charleston, South Carolina, artist behind the standout 2022 album Onwards!, has announced his first album for Mexican Summer. The new release, Take Off From Mercy, is out on November 1. Contour, whose real name is Khari Lucas, worked on Take Off From Mercy with Saul Williams, Mndsgn, and co-producer Omari Jazz. For the new album, he was inspired by Toni Morrison’s Song of Solomon and the history of Southern songwriters.
Take Off From Mercy will be the second album of 2024 from Contour and Omari Jazz. In June, the artists released the collaborative Reflections Vol. 2: Black Decelerant.
