Recall that members of the Ganduje Ward in the Dawakin Tofa Local Government Area of Kano State on Monday, suspended Abdullahi Ganduje.

The Executive Council of Ganduje Ward led by Haruna Gwanjo disclosed that the suspension was based on bribery allegations leveled against Ganduje.

In 2017,  Ganduje was captured in a viral video allegedly receiving bundles of dollar notes as a bribe from a man said to be a contractor and stuffing them in the pockets of his agbada.

When the video first surfaced, Ganduje denied its contents and maintained his innocence.

However, it appears that years later, as the administration of Governor Abba Yusuf from the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) took over governance, they decided to revisit the case and their intention to prosecute the former governor.

Meanwhile, the Kano High Court arraigned Ganduje on Wednesday, April 17, 2024 on charges bordering on allegations of bribery, diversion, and misappropriation of funds, including the purported acceptance of $413,000 and N1.38bn in bribes.
