Airline technology specialist Datalex has raised €25 million through a shares issue.

The Ireland-based company plans to use the funds to repay a €13 million loan facility and strengthen its balance sheet.

Jonathan Rockett, CEO of Datalex, said the company wanted to “transition to a more sustainable capital structure for the Group.”

“This marks the beginning of a new chapter for Datalex; a chapter which will provide the company with greater scope to implement is growth strategy, generate new revenue opportunities, accelerate investment in our product roadmap and continue with activation projects and opening the door for exciting partnerships,” he said.

“Following the recent activations with existing customers, our go-live with Air Macau who signed with Datalex less than nine months ago, and the launch of our offer and order product portfolio, I am extremely excited with the momentum behind the company at present and look forward to maintaining this into the future.”

Datalex recently unveiled its offer and order technology to help airlines boost conversion and drive revenue. The system uses IATA’s offer and order capabilities including NDC and ONE Order. 

Fred Van Toorn, director of product strategy offers and orders at Datalex, said the technology was already being used by a number of airlines. 

“Our solution is completely PSS agnostic and the hybrid design ensures business continuity by supporting today’s legacy processes and systems, where it is also ready for the move to a legacy free and PSS independent Offers & Orders world and continues to empower our airline partners with the tools they need to improve their end-to-end shopping experience, increase revenue and succeed amongst the competition,” he said.

He also said the system is modular, enabling carriers to choose the elements that best fit their objectives.

Meanwhile, Sabre announced Virgin Australia as the first customer for its SabreMosaic airline retailing platform. Sabre unveiled the system, which is powered by Google’s AI capabilities, back in May and has now made the technology available globally.

“Virgin Australia along with other airlines has been a pivotal and consistent contributor to the development of the SabreMosaic platform,” said Garry Wiseman, chief product and technology officer of Sabre Travel Solutions.

“Virgin Australia’s insights have been instrumental in refining the scope and functionality of SabreMosaic. This demonstrates Sabre’s commitment to ensuring that its approach to Offer and Order evolution meets the real-world needs of airlines.”
