It sounds like the main villain in Deadpool & Wolverine, Cassandra Nova, is going to be really fun and entertaining! The character is being played by Emma Corrin, and we still haven’t much of the character in the footage that’s been shared.

Corrin’s Scrumdiddlyumptious supervillain is inspired by Gene Wilder’s Willy Wonka and Christoph Waltz’s Col. Hans Landa, from Quentin Tarantino’s Inglourious Basterds.

When talking about the character being like Wonka, Corrin said: ”They wanted her to be unpredictable.” In regards to Lada, the actor said: “He’s so disarmingly polite and nice and unaffected, and it’s really creepy. It’s all the more sinister because he doesn’t need to do anything.”

Corrin talked about how director Shawn Levy and Ryan Reynolds pitched the character, saying: “Ryan and [director Shawn Levy] pitched this idea, which I was totally on board with.”

The idea was, “’We want this villain to not be a villain in the sense that you expect them to be. We want you to be so endeared by her, so charmed by her, and just when you think that maybe she’s totally seen into your soul and you are going to be best friends for life, you’re dead.’”

Corrin previously talked about the character, explaining: “Because he’s in that uniform, that says everything you need to know. He can sit down at the table and just chat like we’re doing now, be animated, very pleasant.

“It’s so unnerving because he’s as evil as they get, the worst person on the planet. He is the opposite of a scary villain; he lets his physicality do the talking, and then he flips the other parts on their head.”

Reynolds also talked about working with Corrin in the film: “It felt like working with a skin-covered Swiss Army knife. Emma brought a Gene Wilder energy to Deadpool & Wolverine.

“Mischief, danger, unpredictability – from their first scene onward, we understand the villain enough to know why she’s motivated to oppose our heroes.

“And that’s because Emma is so [frick]ing excellent at humanizing even the most chaotic lines. The only thing we love more than hating a villain is loving one. And we love Emma’s Cassandra Nova from the jump.”

In the comics, Nova is Charles Xavier’s evil twin sister, or more accurately, an alien parasite that appeared to Xavier in utero and formed into his polar opposite. Nova is attacked by Charles Xavier in the womb, only to survive with the goal of getting revenge on him.

She hid for years inside her brother’s body before replicating his DNA scheme to obtain a body of her own. She preys on mutants, and her goal is to use her crazy powers to wipe all of them out. At one point, she was responsible for the death of 16 million mutants through the destruction of Genosha.

It’s going to be interesting to actually see this character in action.
