A new study has found that Deftones are the most popular metal band to listen to during sex, with Slipknot and System of a Down right behind them in second and third place, respectively.

ZipHealth surveyed over 1,000 Americans, with 47 percent of respondents saying they regularly listen to music during sex. In addition to using the information provided by the respondents, ZipHealth also analyzed Spotify playlists with the words “sex,” “having sex,” “making love,” “freaky, “BDSM,” and “unprotected sex.”

Deftones are No. 1 when it comes to metal acts, and No. 3 overall, behind The Weeknd (No. 1) and Kanye West (No. 2). In fact, Deftones are the only metal or hard rock act in the Top 10 overall acts, appearing alongside such other artists as Drake, Lana Del Rey, and Kendrick Lamar.

As far as BDSM is concerned, that title goes to Nine Inch Nails, who are the No. 1 BDSM artist and have the No. 1 BDSM song (“Closer”).

The top song overall across all sex playlists is Nicki Minaj’s “Super Freaky Girl,” followed by three straight tunes by The Weeknd.

Apparently, adding music to one’s bedroom activities is the way to go, as the study reports: “People who said they listened to music during sex were generally more satisfied with their sex lives and had sex more often than those who didn’t.”

And the amount of time under the sheets depends on the genre of music, with hip-hop leading the way with an average sex duration of 31.5 minutes, and EDM providing the soundtrack for the shortest sessions, at an average of 27.2 minutes. Listening to music also reduces sexual performance anxiety, according to the study.

Deftones are busy working on a new album, so fans can look forward to more bedroom music in the near future. The band currently has two shows on its itinerary, a gig at Lollapalooza in Chicago on August 3rd, and a one-off co-headlining concert with metal’s third most popular sexual-activity band, System of a Down, at Golden Gate Park in San Francisco on August 17th.
