After announcing full membership into Oneworld, Fiji Airways is going to partner with American Airlines to adopt their loyalty program.

Good news for American Airlines AAdvantage flyers: You now have one new airline to earn and use miles with.

Fiji Airways announced they will use AAdvantage as their loyalty program, creating a completely seamless transition for American flyers starting in 2025.

Loyalty Transition Includes Priority Check-In, Priority Boarding, and All Other Benefits

Under the agreement between American and Fiji, flyers aboard both airlines will have the same loyalty experience between airlines. Travelers who are elite members of the program get the same benefits, including priority check-in, priority boarding, preferred seats, and award redemption.

However, it is unclear if American credit card members will also receive the same checked luggage perks aboard Fiji, or if Fiji purchases using the card will count for bonus points. American notes that complimentary baggage allowance will remain a benefit for members, but the airline did not specify if and how that rolls over.

“This loyalty partnership marks a significant milestone, bringing together two renowned carriers to offer new benefits to millions of travelers,” Fiji Airways managing director and CEO Andre Viljoen said in a press release. “We are excited about the positive impact this collaboration will have on both our airlines and our guests who will benefit from the exclusive perks.”

The move comes after the South Pacific carrier announced they would become a full member of the Oneworld alliance at the 2024 IATA Annual General Meeting. Once Fiji Airways joins the group, flyers will be able to book flights across network to the 26 destinations they serve in 15 nations.
