A new photo has been released from the upcoming film Bookworm, an adventure comedy starring Elijah Wood as a magician and father to an 11 year old girl named Mildred, played by Nell Fisher.
In the photo, we see the two as they are about to embark on a journey. Per the official synopsis, “11-year-old Mildred’s world is turned upside-down when her estranged father, the washed-up magician Strawn Wise comes to look after her and agrees to take her camping to find a mythological beast known as the Canterbury Panther.”
Wood looks pretty scraggly in the photo, with long shaggy hair and a short beard and mustache. His appearance has fans comparing him to his Middle Earth roots, but less to Frodo, and more to Aragorn, played by Viggo Mortensen in the Lord of the Rings trilogy.
With the film The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum in development, some fans have suggested on social platforms that Wood join the project as Aragorn. “Elijah as Aragorn and cast Viggo as Gandalf! Let’s confuse the shit out of everyone,” one fan joked on Reddit.
Do you think there’s any merit to this idea, or is it just for fun? Check out the photo, and watch Bookworm in theaters on October 3rd. The Hunt for Gollum is set for a 2026 release date.
