Paramount Pictures has launched the first trailer for its Transformers One animated film and it’s… different. When I first saw this trailer at CinemaCon, it wasn’t what I expected at all.

Now, you get to experience the trailer for yourself, and I’m curious to see what you think. Personally, I don’t like the direction they are taking the franchise as the vibe feels nothing like Transformers.

The film’s stars Chris Hemsworth and Brian Tyree Henry, who play young Optimus Prime and Megatron, introduce the trailer.

This movie tells the “origin story of how the most iconic characters in the Transformers universe, Orion Pax and D-16, went from brothers-in-arms to become sworn enemies, Optimus Prime and Megatron.”

Ramsey Naito, president of Paramount Animation and Nickelodeon Animation said: “I’m so excited and proud to be working with Hasbro and eOne to bring the first animated Transformers movie to theaters for a never-before-told story.

“I’m honored to have such incredible talents come together to portray these well-known and much-loved characters in an origin story at the heart of the franchise.”

The movie looks more like an animated comedy for kids. Producer Lorenzo Di Bonaventura previously said: “This is … the origin story of young Megatron and young Optimus. If you know the origin, they started as friends, and over time things devolved for them and they ended up on two sides.

“So we’re telling the young Optimus and the young Megatron story. We really are telling the origin story of all Transformers, both what they were at the beginning of it, to how they grow, to how they grow apart.”

This will be the first of what Di Bonaventura calls a “natural trilogy,” and it’s going to explore “Cybertron in a way you’ve never seen it, that no one’s ever seen it before.”

The rest of the voice cast includes Scarlett Johansson as Elita-1, while Keegan-Michael Key will voice the early version of Bumblebee (B-127). Laurence Fishburne will voice Alpha Trion, and Jon Hamm will voice Sentinel Prime.

The film is being directed by Josh Cooley (Toy Story 4) from a script he wrote with Andrew Barrer and Gabriel Ferrari.

The movie will be released on September 13, 2024. Watch the trailer and tell us what you think!
