Former Ebonyi Governor David Umahi has expressed his appreciation for the continued honor bestowed upon him by his successor, Governor Francis Nwifuru.

Speaking to reporters after receiving an honorary doctorate from Ebonyi State University, Umahi remarked that it is uncommon for a former governor to maintain such a positive relationship with their successor. He attributed this to “the handwork of God” and the wisdom of Governor Nwifuru.

Umahi praised Nwifuru for promoting peace and unity in the state, stating, “Governors and their predecessors are fighting in many states, but in Ebonyi, we are always celebrating.” He added that Nwifuru is “my son in whom I am well pleased.”

Umahi commended the university for honoring him and other recipients, pledging to continue supporting its development. He acknowledged the university’s achievements and expressed gratitude to the vice-chancellor and management for their efforts.

“I thank the state governor for his great work in the university,” Umahi said. “I will consult with my fellow awardees, and we will definitely offer huge support to the university.”
