Netflix has released the trailer for the upcoming film The Piano Lesson, which is an adaptation of August Wilson’s Pulitzer Prize-winning play.
The movie stars John David Washington, it was directed by his brother Malcolm Washington, and their dad Denzel Washington produced the project. It’s a Washington family affair!
In the film, A family clash over an heirloom piano explodes. “The battle between brother (Washington) and sister (Danielle Deadwyler) — one hopes to sell it, the other refuses to give it up — unleashes haunting truths about how the past is perceived and who defines a family legacy.”
The Piano Lesson “explores the inter-generational dynamics of identity, resilience and transcendence – revealing startling truths about how we perceive the past and who gets to define our legacy.
“A battle is brewing in the Charles Household. At the center stands a prized heirloom piano tearing the two siblings apart. On one side, a brother plans to build the family fortune by selling it.
“On the other, a sister will go to any lengths to hold onto the sole vestige of the family’s heritage. Their uncle (Samuel Jackson) tries to mediate, but even he can’t hold back the ghosts of the past.”
The rest of the cast includes Ray Fisher, Michael Potts, Erykah Badu, Skylar Aleece Smith, Jerrika Hinton, Gail Bean, and Corey Hawkins.
This looks like a great film and it will be released in select US theaters on November 8th, 2024. It will then stream on Netflix starting November 22nd.
