Craft Supplies Needed For Making Masks With Paper Plates:

- Construction Paper
- Tape or glue stick
- Scissors
- Twine or pipe cleaners (optional)
- popsicle stick, plastic spoons, or craft sticks
How To Make Paper Plate Halloween Masks:
Grab your materials and head to the table. Start by thinking of what type mask you and your child would like to make. A witch, a pumpkin, a monster…we decided on a bat and a Frankenstein for our easy craft.
The first step in how to make a paper plate mask is to go ahead and draw eyes and then cut out the eye holes. The best way to do this is to turn the paper plate face side down. Then you can have your child draw the eye holes on the back of the paper plate for you to cut out. They should draw two small circles with about an inch between them in the top 1/3 of the paper plate.
After the eye holes have been cut out, go ahead and draw the different details onto construction paper. For the bat, I drew wings, a mouth with teeth and eyebrows. For the Frankenstein, I drew a mouth, stitches and hair. Then I cut these out.
Once all the details were cut out, I let my daughter help place the tape on the pieces and lay them down on the plates.
The final thing to do was tape on the craft stick or plastic spoons to the back of the mask. These are used as handles on the bottom of the mask to hold the paper plates up in front of the child’s face. Instead, you could use twine loops on each side of the mask and over the ears, if you like. We used plastic spoons and held the mask up sort of like a masquerade party. Either way works! She preferred the spoon handles. And voila! you have Halloween Paper Plate Masks.
