STEPHEN HENDRY was once stopped from winning £147,000 thanks to an accident behind the scenes.
BBC Radio Sheffield presenter Toby Foster was once invited to The Crucible and enjoyed a tour around the famous venue.
He was even allowed into a place reserved for only a few – the camera room in the main arena.
Foster was given a front row seat to watch seven-time world champion in action, and on the verge of hitting a 147.
But disaster struck as soon as Foster step foot in the room, which had a knock-on effect on Hendry and ending up costing the Scot big time.
Foster recalled the story on BBC Radio Sheffield saying: “Stephen Hendry, I cost him £145,000!
“I went up to the Crucible, we’re going round and someone says ‘come in here this is where they do the filming’.
“And you know the two mirrors that you see on the shot, well behind those are film cameras.
“He said ‘go in there and be really quiet. Hendry is on for a 147, now be really quiet’.
“I lifted by foot and strode over the lip of the door. I caught my foot on the lip and I went forward and headbutted the back of the mirror.

“And Hendry is on like 110 or something. You just see him look up and wonder what this bang is. Then he looks back down and misses.
“And if he got a 147 he would have got £147,000. And I’ve never told him. That was really bad.”
