Lukman Odejoju, a 65-year-old murder suspect, has attributed the killing of his mother to the influence of alcohol packaged in nylon.

According to Vanguard, the suspect committed the crime in Kajola village via Apomu, Isokan local government area of Osun state.

During his interrogation by journalists at the State Police Command headquarters in Osogbo, Odejoju revealed that “pelebe,” a popular alcohol beverage, sparked an argument with his mother.

“We were arguing over the handover of her palm plantation to me,” he said. “She refused, and in the heat of the moment, I pushed and strangled her. I didn’t realize she would die.”

Odejoju admitted to consuming sachets of alcohol before going to the farm. “It was only after the incident that I realized the gravity of my mistake,” he said.

He claimed to have adjusted his mother’s body and returned to the village for assistance. “I told them what had happened,” he added.

Despite expressing love for his mother and being her eldest surviving child out of five, Odejoju pleaded for forgiveness from the government. “It was not intentional,” he said. CONTINUE READING
