Lawal said this In an interview on Daily Trust TV Thursday while explaining why he didn’t support Atiku Abubakar, PDP Presidential candidate even though they both come from the same state of Adamawa.
“But next election, the President Should come from the North,”Lawal said.

Babachir Lawal said he chose to support Peter Obi because ab initio he wanted the president to come from the South.
He however said the North should produce the next president in the next election.
When asked: Why did you support Peter Obi instead of him (Atiku). He’s from Adamawa, you are from Adamawa but you went to Anambra and picked Peter Obi?
He said: “Yes, because Anambra too, they are entitled to produce the president. But first of all, I was one of those who championed ab initio that the presidency should now come from the South.
“I had even gone around at my own expense long before the matter became an issue. I spoke to key political associates, to help us get a president from the South.
