The authenticity of a recent video circulating on social media (specifically X platform) remains unverified. However, the clip features a Southern African woman expressing her perspectives on natural hair during an interview.

She begins her statement with, “There is no group of people who hate themselves more than black people.” She goes on to discuss why African women wear hair from other ethnic groups and the cultural practices of Indians, particularly the shaving of their heads.

She explains that in Hindu culture, when things aren’t going well for a person, they undergo a ceremony called Mundan, also known as Tonsure in English. During this ritual, a priest at the temple cuts off their hair, believing it carries their bad luck. She points out the irony that African women often wear this hair, which was initially seen as a negative symbol in another culture, as a badge of honor.
