Jose Mourinho has been officially appointed as the new manager of Fenerbahce, less than 24hrs of making headlines at Wembley.

Mourinho, 61, flew to Turkey after serving as a pundit for TNT Sports during the Champions League final at Wembley.

He replaces Ismail Kartal, who led the team to a second-place finish in the Turkish Super Lig last season, narrowly missing out on the title to Galatasaray.

The Special One has signed a contract that extends to 2026, with an option for an additional season.

This move comes after his departure from Roma in January.

Mourinho had been linked with several roles, including a potential return to Manchester United, before committing to the Istanbul-based side.

Fenerbahce’s second-place finish means they will enter the Champions League qualifying rounds.

Mourinho’s appointment reunites him with former Manchester United midfielder Fred, who had a productive season with Fenerbahce, contributing three goals and eight assists.

Mourinho will also have a number of former Premier League players at his disposal.

Among them is Michy Batshuayi, Dusan Tadic, Caglar Soyuncu, Cengiz Under, and Edin Dzeko.
