Movie producer Stanley Ontop has revealed that the family of late sound engineer Precious, who drowned in a boat accident, has refused to exhume his body despite receiving financial assistance from Nigerians.

Precious’s body was initially buried on a riverbank after it was discovered days after the accident. Villagers reportedly insisted on the riverside burial due to the nature of his death and claimed it could only be removed after certain rituals.

Last week, Stanley released a video of Precious’s mother pleading with the Rivers State government to help retrieve her son’s body for a proper burial. The Akwa Ibom State government had previously facilitated the exhumation and return of another victim’s body.

However, in a recent video, Stanley expressed disappointment that the family had reneged on their plan to exhume Precious’s body, despite receiving over ₦11.2 million from well-wishers.

“They were supposed to exhume his body today, but they have refused, claiming it goes against their tradition,” Stanley said. “I have raised ₦1.2 million for them, and a senior pastor donated ₦10 million. The Rivers State government also offered assistance, but the father doesn’t want to come and collect his son’s body.”

Stanley shared an audio recording of Precious’s twin sister, who stated that they could not go against their tradition. “We will find a way to call his spirit out,” she said. “We can’t uproot someone that water has taken.” CONTINUE READING
