Afenifere’s Publicity Secretary, Justice Faloye, emphasized the group’s belief in the fundamental rights of Nigerians to protest against government policies. He warned against violence during the demonstration.

“Afenifere has consistently advocated for the economic and political restructuring of the country,” Faloye said. “We have warned against the hardship faced by Nigerians, which has fueled this protest.”

Faloye stated that although Afenifere does not endorse the protest, it understands it as a natural response to the government’s policies. “We support the right of individuals to express their concerns through peaceful protests,” he said.

“However, we strongly condemn violence. The government and its political thugs have a responsibility to ensure that the protest remains peaceful,” Faloye added. “We urge all participants to exercise restraint and avoid any acts that could escalate the situation.”
